Clear, practical guides for writing, compiling, and sharing LaTeX and Typst projects.

Plans and usage

What each plan includes, how AI usage is counted, and what changes when you upgrade or downgrade.

What each plan includes

JointTex has Free, Education, Plus, and Pro plans. Education has Plus benefits at a lower price for verified academic email holders.

How to do it

  1. Writing, compiling, templates, and realtime collaboration are included in every plan.
  2. Git access, WebDAV sync, GitHub Sync, external Agents, and citations from past projects need Education, Plus, or Pro.
  3. Each project can have 3 people on Free and 11 on Education or Plus, counting the owner, and an unlimited number on Pro.
  4. Pending invitations hold a place until they expire, so a full project may free up on its own.
  5. Education needs a verified academic email (.edu, .edu.xx, or .ac.xx); add and verify one in your profile first.

How AI usage is counted

AI usage is counted per month — a calendar month on Free, a month of your billing period on a paid plan — and the four counters measure different things.

How to do it

  1. Chat requests cover the assistant, AI review, and any sub-agent it starts.
  2. One message can use several chat requests when the assistant works in steps, and inline AI edits draw on the same counter.
  3. Autocomplete suggestions are counted separately from chat, so heavy inline use does not consume your chat allowance.
  4. Formula image recognition and Voice input (minutes) each have their own monthly allowance.
  5. Check your plan, month-to-date usage, the limit for each counter, and the date they reset under Account settings › Subscription & usage.
  6. When a counter is exhausted, those AI features stop until the next month or an upgrade; everything else keeps working.

Upgrade, downgrade, and billing

A change of plan is reversible and never destroys work or access you have already granted.

How to do it

  1. Upgrade or downgrade from the Subscription & usage page, where subscription management lives; the account menu's Subscription entry opens it.
  2. An upgrade applies at once. A downgrade is scheduled for the end of the current billing period, and Cancel scheduled change undoes it before then.
  3. A downgrade never removes collaborators or deletes credentials.
  4. Git, WebDAV, GitHub, and Agent connections are paused by a downgrade and work again if you upgrade later.
  5. Watch the collaborator limit after a downgrade: existing members stay, but new invitations follow the new plan.

Free trial, yearly billing, and referrals

There are three ways to pay less for a paid plan.

How to do it

  1. An account that has never subscribed gets a 30-day free trial on Plus or Education with monthly billing; cancel before it ends and nothing is charged.
  2. Choose Yearly billing to pay 20% less than twelve monthly payments; the free trial applies to monthly billing only.
  3. Under Invite friends on the Subscription & usage page, copy your referral link or code. Each friend who starts a free trial or makes a first payment earns you 15 days of Plus, or extends your current paid plan, up to 6 rewards.
  4. Invited by a friend? Enter their invitation code on the same page before you start a trial or pay.

Join an organization and use a seat

Open Organizations from the account menu. Membership, a seat assignment and an active paid seat are different: you can belong without a seat, and an assigned seat can become inactive.

How to do it

  1. Accept an invitation using its verified email address, join a verified domain with automatic joining enabled, or sign in through the linked institutional provider. A purchased seat is assigned automatically when one is available; otherwise you join without a seat.
  2. The owner buys Plus or Pro seats in the organization’s Billing tab. Owners and admins manage members and assign or release seats in Members. Each active seat provides that plan to one account; AI usage is individual, not pooled.
  3. The highest of your personal subscription, grants and active organization seats applies. A personal subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it yourself in Subscription & usage.
  4. An assigned seat past the purchased quantity becomes inactive. If quantity is reduced in the billing portal, the earliest assignments stay active. Releasing a seat does not reduce the subscription quantity or bill; the owner changes quantity separately in Billing.
  5. Seats are billed per seat monthly or yearly, without a free trial, Education pricing or referral rewards. Added seats are charged immediately; if authentication is needed, finish the change in the billing portal.
  6. Projects stay owned by accounts. Leaving or being removed ends this organization’s seat; your personal plan or other coverage still applies. AI usage for an account covered only by a seat resets by calendar month.

Institutional sign-in and leaving safely

The institution supplies its identity provider. A verified domain alone does not configure SSO; a site administrator links an operator-configured provider, and the owner tests that sign-in before requiring it.

How to do it

  1. Use Sign in with SSO on the login page and enter your institutional address. For an existing password account, confirm its password when asked to link that same account.
  2. If your institution requires SSO, ordinary browser sessions are blocked until you sign in with its provider. Your sign-in address is managed while the requirement applies. Use Try again after an administrator resolves a block.
  3. Before removing membership, first disable the person’s institutional IdP access and sessions, turn off automatic joining for every domain through which they could rejoin, and revoke pending invitations. Domain changes affect all accounts in that domain. Then remove the member. Otherwise a new SSO session or an eligible verified address can let them rejoin.
  4. Membership removal does not remove project access or revoke Git/MCP tokens. Project owners review collaborators separately. A site administrator uses Revoke tokens for that account to end Git tokens, MCP tokens and OAuth connections; an organization owner alone cannot do this.
  5. A token paused after losing paid access can work again after a later upgrade unless revoked. Administrators coordinate any service-wide suspension separately; personal projects are not transferred by removing a member.
